The Inn
The Suncatcher Inn is Colorado's only strawbale, solar bed and breakfast. It is lit, powered and warmed by god's gift to the western slope, abundant sunshine. When the sun doesn't shine, in floor heat and super insulation keep the place warm with very little energy expenditure.

Activities

The Inn is situated with a spectacular view of the North Fork of the Gunnison River Valley and West Elk Mountains. The Black Canyon National Park is twenty to forty minutes away. Excellent cross country skiing, snowmobiling and hut trips are within an hour away. Orvis Hotsprings and Glenwood Springs are two hours away.

The Deck

The deck off the kitchen is a great spot to hang out during the warm months and the plantfilled, two story solarium is the place to enjoy the sun on less balmy days.

The Second Floor

The SunCatcher offers four environmentally friendly, sunny upstairs rooms that rent nightly or are available for longer stays with possible discount depending on the time of year.
Two full baths serve the four upstairs rooms.

The East Room

The east room is probably the warmest and gets the first sun that peeps out of the east. It offers a window seat that looks out on one of the best views in the west elk mountains. The room is painted in purple trim and offers a large, king size bed and lots of closet space.

The West Room

The large west room looks out over the solarium. It too has a king bed and walk in closet which connects with the upstairs bath. The west room also offers the novelty of the sky lite over the headboard for those who like to drift off gazing at the Big Dipper.

Details and Contact

The two middle rooms offer twin beds in one, and a full size bed and bunk in the other. All rooms rent for 80 a night plus tax. The room with the full size bed may be rented out as a single for 70 per night. Hot breakfast served around 8am. For meat eaters, I use only homestead beef products which are raised organically and marketed locally. There is a different healthy meal for non meat eaters.
High-Speed Wireless Internet is available for guest use in the house using a Wi-Fi router.
